Q: Are these original enamel signs?

No. Every sign we sell is a vintage-style reproduction, UV-printed onto Chromadek board. The artwork is reproduced from vintage advertising, but the sign itself is newly made. If a listing describes an item as an original antique, it will say so explicitly.

Q: What sizes are the signs?

We print two sizes. Most designs are 270 x 350 mm portrait. Designs that were originally wide, such as road signs and dealer boards, are 350 x 270 mm landscape. Every product page states the size and orientation of that piece.

Are these original enamel signs?

The artwork is reproduced from vintage advertising, but the sign itself is newly made. If a listing ever describes an item as an original antique, it will say so explicitly.

What is Chromadek?

Chromadek is pre-painted steel sheeting, made in South Africa and used here for decades on roofing and signage. It is rigid, it will not warp, and its factory paint layer takes our print cleanly. There is more on how our signs are made.

What sizes are the signs?

How do I hang a sign?

Each sign arrives ready to hang. They are light enough for ordinary picture hooks or a couple of screws, and they suit a garage, kitchen, bar or office wall.

What are the aprons made of?

Our aprons are sublimated onto premium gabardine, with a double front pocket and adjustable straps. They are 620 × 820 mm and one size, adjusted with the straps. Sublimation puts the design into the fabric rather than on top of it, so it will not crack or peel.

Can you make a custom sign or apron?

Yes. Send us your artwork, wording, size and quantity and we will quote you. Full detail is on our custom orders page. Please ask for a current lead time when you enquire.

What does delivery cost and where do you ship?

We ship throughout South Africa from Meyerton in Gauteng. Standard delivery is R130 and express is R150, anywhere in the country. International delivery is R310. See our shipping page for the detail.

Can I return something?

Yes. You have seven days from delivery to change your mind on a ready-made item, and six months if something is faulty or not what you ordered. Custom pieces are made to your specification, so the seven day cooling-off right does not apply to them, though they are still covered if they arrive faulty. Our refund policy sets it all out.

How do I look after a sign?

The UV print is hard and colour-fast. Wipe a sign with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which can scratch any printed surface.
